Special Education Teachers and Staff

Deana Aurner is an elementary special education professional who began working with K12 in 2018. She comes to K12 with 9 years paraprofessional experience. Deana was the previous owner of LOL Daycare before she began her career working in the education system.

Shelby Bruckerhoff is currently serving students as the special education case manager for 6th, 11th, and 12th grades. She also serves as the facilitator for transition services for special education high school students and 504 plans for students at all grade levels. Mrs. Bruckerhoff started with ISKS in 2016. Shelby has worked with special education for over 20 years and has worked with all ages from preschool to college.

Jillian Edmundson is the ISKS/KSVA Kingergarden-12th grade Gifted Facilitator and HS Special Populations teacher. She joined the K12 team in the 2013-2014 school year. She brings more than 10 years of experience in education, community service, and student development. Mrs. Edmundson earned a BA in education from University of Northern Colorado, and a MS in fifted and in special education from Fort Hays State University. She also holds certificates in Early Childhood Education and ESL. Mrs. Edmundson is passionate about education and fully believes in every student she works with.

Lydia Huninghake is a special education teacher who joined the K12 team in March of 2018. She brings 10 years’ experience in special education. Huninghake earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and a master’s degree in special education. She is a registered behavior technician as well.

Sarah Myers joined the K12 team in 2017. She has been working in the education field for six years. She is also very active in volunteering within her community and church group. Miss Myers went to cosmetology school in Hastings, NE right after high school and continues to keep her cosmetology license up-to-date. She also has an associate degree in business management, a bachelor’s degree in general education and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is currently enrolled at Fort Hays State University where she is completing her special education endorsement. Miss Myers has brought many years of knowledge and experience with her to K12.

Jen Rodriguez teaches Kindergarten through 5th grade special education. This is her 4th year at KSVA. She started out teaching 1st grade and then switched to special education. For her educational background, she has a bachelor's in early childhood and elementary education, and a master's in special education from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. In her home life, she has two wild little boys and a baby girl. She loves to bike, kayak, and be outdoors as much as possible! She lives in a smaller town, right in the middle of Nebraska.
